Building sliders from your content 

Not every slider starts as a gallery. With the [gss_content_slider] shortcode, Pro builds a slider from content you already have: your latest posts, a Media Library folder, the images attached to a post, or an ACF gallery field. The slider stays up to date on its own as that content changes. This guide covers each source and the options they share.

Where to Use the Shortcode

Put the shortcode in a Shortcode block, a Classic Editor post, a widget, or a theme template. The slider uses the layout, controls, video slides and lightbox set on the other tabs, so it looks like the rest of your sliders. The full reference is on the Gallery Slider > Content tab.

If you use the same slider in several places, save it as a reusable slider instead, so you can change it in one place – see Creating a reusable slider.

Posts

Shows the featured images of the latest posts, each linked to its post:

[gss_content_slider source="posts" category="news" count="6"]

You can also use tag, post_type (for example product or portfolio), ids, orderby, order, taxonomy with terms, and exclude="current" to leave out the page the slider is on.

Media Library

Shows the images of a Media Library folder or category:

[gss_content_slider source="media" folder="summer-trip"]

Folders work with media folder plugins that store folders as a taxonomy; add taxonomy="name" to choose one when you have several. Without a folder plugin, use ids="12,15,20" for specific images, or attached_to="current" (or a post ID) for the images uploaded to a post.

ACF Gallery Field

Shows the images of an Advanced Custom Fields gallery field on the current page:

Add post_id to read the field from another post, or post_id="option" for an ACF options page.

Options for Every Source

• count and size – how many slides (1-50) and the image size.
• link – post (posts only), file, lightbox or none. Posts link to the post by default and the other sources open the lightbox.
• caption – title, excerpt (posts), caption (the Media Library caption) or none.
• columns – slides visible at once, 1-6.
• layout (slide, fade or coverflow), and thumbnails and autoplay set to 1 or 0. Left out, the Appearance and Behavior settings apply.
• class – extra CSS classes.

The Image Size and Number of Slides defaults on the Content tab are used when a shortcode does not set its own size or count.
