Setting up autoplay and controls

Gallery Slider Suite Beginner Last updated: September 24, 2026

The Behavior tab decides how sliders move and how visitors control them: autoplay, pausing, a progress bar, looping, the arrow style and dots. This guide explains each option, how autoplay stays accessible, and how to change it for a single gallery.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to turn on autoplay and set its timing
  • Pausing, the pause/play button and the progress bar
  • Loop, arrow styles and dots
  • Changing autoplay for one gallery

Autoplay

Go to Gallery Slider > Behavior. Tick Change slides automatically under Autoplay (it is off by default) and set Time per Slide in seconds (5 by default). Autoplay applies to every gallery and to the WooCommerce product gallery.

Visitors whose device is set to reduce motion never get autoplay – the slider waits for them to move it.

Pause, Pause Button and Progress Bar

  • Pause while the pointer is over the slider or it has keyboard focus – on by default, so nobody has an image slide away while reading it.
  • Show a pause/play button – on by default. A way to stop the movement is recommended for accessibility.
  • Progress Bar – a thin bar that fills until the next slide, so visitors can see when it will change.

Loop, Arrows and Dots

  • Loop – go around endlessly instead of stopping at the last slide. With autoplay on, the slider always goes back to the first slide after the last one.
  • Arrows – Circle (the default), Rounded square, Chevron only, or No arrows. With no arrows, visitors still move the slider by swiping, dragging, the keyboard or the dots.
  • Dots – a dot for every slide below the slider, on by default.

Arrow colors and size are set on the Appearance tab – see Customizing the slider design.

Select a Gallery block and open the Gallery Slider Controls panel in the block settings. Set Autoplay to On or Off for this gallery, or leave it on Default to follow the Behavior tab. The timing, pause button and the other controls always come from the Behavior tab.

Autoplay and controls are available in Gallery Slider Suite Pro.
