Pro adds four features to the lightbox that opens when a visitor clicks an image: zoom, fullscreen, captions and deep links. Each one can be turned on or off on its own, and they work with both the Advanced and Basic lightbox modes. This guide explains how visitors use them.
What You’ll Learn
- Where to turn the Pro lightbox features on
- How zoom works with a mouse, keyboard and touch
- Where captions come from
- How deep links let you share one image
Turning the Features On
Go to Gallery Slider > Behavior and scroll to the lightbox section. Zoom, Fullscreen, Captions and Deep Links are all on by default. The lightbox itself – Advanced, Basic or Off – is still chosen on the Settings tab (see Choosing a lightbox mode); with it set to Off, none of these appear.
Zoom
Visitors can zoom in several ways:
- the zoom buttons in the lightbox toolbar
- the mouse wheel, or a double-click
- a double-tap or a pinch on touch screens
- the + and – keys, and 0 to fit the image to the screen again
Drag to move around a zoomed image.
Fullscreen
The fullscreen button opens the lightbox on the whole screen, hiding the browser bars. The key F does the same. The button does not show in browsers that do not support fullscreen.
Captions
The caption shows under the image. It is the caption you typed in the Gallery block, or the caption saved in the Media Library. Images without a caption show nothing, so you can caption only the images that need it.
Deep Links
With deep links on, the page address changes to point at the open image, for example /summer-trip/#gss-g1-3 for the third image of the first gallery. Anyone who opens that address lands on the page with the lightbox already open on that image. A button in the lightbox copies the link, so it is easy to share or bookmark.
The first part of the link is the gallery. If you give a Gallery block an HTML anchor (in the block settings under Advanced), that name is used instead of g1, and the link keeps working when you add galleries above it.
The Pro lightbox is available in Gallery Slider Suite Pro.
