When a visitor clicks an image in a slider, it opens in a lightbox – a full screen view on a dark background. Gallery Slider Suite has three lightbox modes, chosen with one setting. This guide explains what each one shows and how visitors use it.
What You’ll Learn
- What Advanced, Basic and Off do
- How visitors move through images in the lightbox
- Which mode suits your site
- What Pro adds to the lightbox
The Three Modes
Choose the mode under Gallery Slider > Settings > Lightbox Mode:
- Advanced (the default) – shows the previous and next images at the sides, with navigation and a counter (for example “3 / 8”).
- Basic – shows only the clicked image with a close button. Nothing else on screen.
- Off – clicking an image does nothing. Use this when your theme or another plugin already provides a lightbox, so the two do not both open.
The mode applies to every slider on the site.
Using the Lightbox
- Click the close button, click the dark background, or press Esc to close it.
- In Advanced mode, use the arrows, the left and right arrow keys, or click a side image to move to it.
- The lightbox shows the images of the gallery that was clicked, in the same order as the slider.
Which Mode to Choose
Advanced suits photo galleries and portfolios, where visitors want to browse. Basic suits galleries where people only need a closer look at one image, such as a diagram or a single product photo. Off is for sites where another lightbox is already set up.
What Pro Adds
Pro adds zoom, a fullscreen button, image captions and a shareable link for every image. They work with both Advanced and Basic mode – see Using the pro lightbox.
The lightbox modes are available in Gallery Slider Suite Free and Gallery Slider Suite Pro.
