Compliance Copilot doesn’t scan your content and guess what disclosures it needs – you tell it, once per post, and it takes care of showing the right notice consistently from then on. Every post and page gets two small controls in the editor for this: a Compliance Disclosures box and a Compliance Warnings taxonomy panel. This guide covers both.
What You’ll Learn
- How to flag affiliate, sponsored, or AI-generated content
- How to add a medical or financial disclaimer
- How to add a gambling or age-restricted jurisdiction warning
- Where each notice actually appears once you save
Flagging Disclosures and Disclaimers
- Open the post or page in the WordPress editor.
- Find the Compliance Disclosures box in the sidebar.
- Check any of the disclosure boxes that apply: Affiliate, Sponsored, or Ai (AI-generated content).
- Below the divider in the same box, check Medical disclaimer or Financial disclaimer if either applies.
- Update or publish the post as normal – there’s no separate save button for this box, it saves along with the rest of the post.
You can check as many boxes as apply to a single post – a sponsored post with AI-assisted writing and a financial disclaimer, for example, shows all three notices together.
Adding a Jurisdiction Warning
Jurisdiction warnings work differently – they’re a taxonomy, the same mechanism WordPress uses for categories and tags, rather than checkboxes in the Compliance Disclosures box.
- Open the post or page in the WordPress editor.
- Find the Compliance Warnings panel in the sidebar.
- Check Gambling and/or Age Restricted, whichever applies.
- Update or publish the post.
By default a jurisdiction warning shows to every visitor once it’s set. If you’re on Compliance Copilot Pro, you can narrow a warning to only the countries where it’s legally required – see Restricting jurisdiction warnings to specific countries.
Where Each Notice Appears
- Disclosures (affiliate, sponsored, AI) appear at the top of the post content
- Jurisdiction warnings (gambling, age restricted) also appear at the top, above disclosures
- Disclaimers (medical, financial) appear at the bottom of the post content
All three render automatically wherever the post’s full content displays – no shortcode or extra setup needed. If you don’t see a notice after checking a box, clear any full-page cache your site is using and reload.
Customizing the Wording
Every notice ships with sensible default text. On Compliance Copilot Pro, you can rewrite any of it – and change its colors – from the Design tab; see Customizing notice text and colors in the Design tab.
