Gallery Slider Options in the Block Editor and Classic Editor

Gallery Slider Suite Beginner Last updated: September 24, 2026

Sliders are on for every gallery by default, but each gallery or page can have its own settings. In the Block Editor they sit in the Gallery block settings; in the Classic Editor they sit in a box in the sidebar. This guide covers both, and the Settings option that decides which editor shows them.

What You’ll Learn

  • Where the options appear in the Block Editor
  • Where the options appear in the Classic Editor
  • What the container width does
  • How to show the options in only one editor

In the Block Editor

Select a Gallery block and open the block settings in the sidebar. The Gallery Slider Options panel has two options:

  • Enable Gallery Slider – on by default. Turn it off and this gallery shows as a regular WordPress grid, while every other gallery keeps its slider.
  • Container Size – the maximum width of the slider: default, 100% / full-width, or a fixed width from 1680px down to 540px.

The settings are saved with the block, so a gallery keeps them when you copy it to another post. In Pro the block settings also show a Gallery Slider Layout panel (layout and thumbnails) and a Gallery Slider Controls panel (autoplay) for this one gallery.

In the Classic Editor

On the edit screen, the Gallery Slider Options box in the sidebar applies to every on that page or post:

  • Enable gallery slider for the post/page – untick it to show all galleries on this page as regular grids.
  • Select container width – the same widths as in the Block Editor.

Click Save in the box to store the options. They are saved separately from the post, so you do not need to update the post itself.

How the Container Width Works

The width is a maximum, relative to the space the gallery has in your theme. If the content area is narrower than the width you choose, the slider simply fills the content area – it never overflows it. default keeps the width your theme gives the gallery.

Choosing Which Editor Shows the Options

Under Gallery Slider > Settings > Editor Controls, tick Block Editor, Classic Editor, or both. Unticking one hides its options without changing any gallery: galleries still become sliders, they just use the defaults.

If Enable gallery sliders on front-end is off in Settings, the editor shows a notice that sliders are disabled for the whole site, with a link to the Settings page.

The Block Editor and Classic Editor options is available in Gallery Slider Suite Free and Gallery Slider Suite Pro.
