Gallery Slider Suite turns the galleries you already have – Block Editor Gallery blocks and Classic Editor shortcodes – into responsive image sliders with a lightbox preview. No new blocks to learn: add a gallery with two or more images and it becomes a slider on the front end.
Key Features
- Automatic sliders – every Gallery block and Classic Editor with two or more images becomes a slider, with arrows, touch swipe, and keyboard navigation
- Lightbox preview – click any image to open it full screen, in Advanced mode (with the previous and next images and a counter) or Basic mode (just the clicked image), or turn it off
- Gallery Slider Options – a panel in the Gallery block settings and a box in the Classic Editor sidebar to turn the slider off for one gallery or page and choose a container width
- Editor previews that match the front end – the slider is shown in the Block Editor and in the Classic Editor visual mode while you write
- Responsive by default – fewer images per view on tablets and phones, and right-to-left (RTL) languages supported
- Simple settings – switch front-end sliders on or off, choose which editors show the options, and pick the post types (Posts and Pages)
- Light on your site – the slider scripts and styles load only on pages that have a gallery slider, and nothing comes from an outside service
How It Works
- Install and activate the plugin
- Open the Gallery Slider menu item in your WordPress dashboard to review the settings
- Add a Gallery block with two or more images to a post or page – or a Classic Editor – and publish
- Optionally open the Gallery Slider Options panel to turn the slider off for that gallery or choose a container width
- Visit the page: the gallery slides, and clicking an image opens the lightbox
Who It’s For
- Bloggers and photographers who want galleries that slide instead of taking up half the page
- Site owners who use the Block Editor and want a slider without adding another page builder
- Anyone still using the Classic Editor who wants the same slider on their shortcodes
- Agencies that need a light, no-configuration gallery slider for client sites
Free vs. Pro
The free version covers the slider, the lightbox, and the editor options for Block Editor and Classic Editor galleries on Posts and Pages. Gallery Slider Suite Pro adds:
- Custom post types and WooCommerce – sliders on any public post type, and a slider, zoom, and thumbnails on WooCommerce product pages, following the selected variation
- Layouts and effects – slide, fade, and coverflow, a thumbnail strip, and items per view for desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Autoplay and controls – autoplay with a pause button and progress bar, loop, dots, and arrow styles
- Pro lightbox – zoom, fullscreen, captions, and shareable links to a single image
- Video slides – YouTube, Vimeo, and MP4 videos that play in the slide or the lightbox
- Reusable sliders – save a slider once and place it with a shortcode, a block, or an Elementor widget, or build sliders from your posts, Media Library, or ACF galleries
- Design controls, performance, and analytics – brand colors and shapes, a slider cache and smaller images, and views and interactions per slider
Installation
- Download the plugin ZIP from this page, then go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, and click Install Now, then Activate
- Open the Gallery Slider menu item in your dashboard to review your settings
Frequently Asked Questions
Which galleries turn into sliders?
Any Gallery block with two or more images, and any Classic Editor shortcode. A gallery with only one image stays a normal gallery. Older galleries saved in the pre-nested format are left as they are until you open the post in the Block Editor, which upgrades them.
Does it work with the Classic Editor?
Yes – shortcodes become sliders too, and the Gallery Slider Options box appears in the Classic Editor sidebar so you can turn the slider off for a page or choose a container width.
Can I turn the slider off for one gallery?
Yes – use the Enable Gallery Slider switch in the Gallery block’s Gallery Slider Options panel, or the checkbox in the Classic Editor box for the whole page. You can also switch front-end sliders off for the whole site in Settings.
What are the lightbox modes?
Advanced shows the previous and next images at the sides with navigation arrows and a counter. Basic shows only the clicked image with a close button. Off means clicking an image does nothing. Choose the mode in Settings.
Will this slow down my site?
No – the slider scripts and styles load only on pages that contain a gallery slider, and the plugin does not call any outside service.
