Importing and Exporting Your Link List as a CSV

Block Editor External Links Beginner Last updated: September 21, 2026

Block Editor External Links Pro’s Bulk Tools tab can export your entire stored link list to a CSV file, or import links from a CSV or plain text file. This is useful for backing up your list, moving it to another site, or seeding a fresh install with a set of approved links.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to export your link list to CSV
  • What each exported column means
  • How to import links from a CSV or plain text file

Exporting Your Link List

  1. Go to Block Editor External Links > Bulk Tools.
  2. Under Import / Export, click Export All Links to CSV.
  3. Your browser downloads a CSV file containing every stored link.

Each row includes: url, domain, anchor_text, usage_count, last_used, and first_found – everything the plugin tracks for that link.

Importing Links

  1. Under Import / Export, click Choose File and select the file to import.
  2. Click Import Links.

Two file formats are accepted:

  • A CSV with a url column – the same format the export produces, so a file exported from one site can be imported straight into another.
  • A plain text file with one URL per line.

Every URL is validated the same way the Settings page’s Manual link list is – each must be external (a different domain than your site) and start with http://, https://, or www.. Rows that don’t pass validation are skipped rather than blocking the whole import.
