The free version only scans Posts and Pages. If your site’s external links live in a portfolio, a listings directory, a reviews post type, or any other custom content, Block Editor External Links Pro can scan those too – you just have to tell it which ones.
What You’ll Learn
- Where to select which post types get scanned
- Why a custom post type might not show up in the list
- What happens if you leave everything unchecked
Selecting Post Types
- Go to Block Editor External Links > Settings.
- Find the Post Types to Scan section.
- Check the box next to every post type you want included in extraction – Posts and Pages are checked by default, and any registered custom post type appears alongside them.
- Click Save.
- Run Run Manual Extraction (or wait for the next scheduled run) to scan the newly added post types.
Why a Custom Post Type Might Not Appear
Only post types registered as public show up in the list – the same requirement WordPress applies to post types that should have their own front-end pages. If a post type you expect to see is missing, check how it’s registered: a theme, page builder, or another plugin may have registered it as non-public (for internal data that isn’t meant to be scanned or linked to directly), in which case it’s excluded intentionally.
If You Leave Everything Unchecked
Unchecking every post type doesn’t turn extraction off – it falls back to scanning Posts and Pages, the same default the free version uses. To scan nothing at all, switch to Manual mode instead; see Automatic vs. Manual link management mode.
